110 km, 4h20, elev 950 hm. Trip rating 65%
We had a party from a colleague that was leaving for maternity leave, but I still committed myself to a 100+ km bike ride today.
From Cakovice I went to the west, slightly through the city center. This is the Vltava river
It was grey and cold but for this ride it should not be a problem
I was sent through Prague city for quite a while. I even recognized certain parts from when I came here by car, last year November. Then I found myself on Route 6, the big one that I took a few times between Prague and Cheb.
It started raiing, not very hard, but constant. The roads were wet and my behind was also getting wet
I saw a Giant bike store and went in to buy a mud guard
I found one, 390 Czk. Better than getting a wet ass!
The road continued along unknown territory. All I knew was I was going west
It continued raining and my feet were getting wet. I asked myself the question if I would finish the ride
I kept following the GPS instructions for now
District of Kladno
Here I decided to take matters in my own hand. I switched off navigation mode and I followed the 101 to Kladno
I was not gonna finish the 150 km BUT I was committed to doing 100, no matter how ugly things would get
Heading for Kladno
Depictions of Christianity
Dark grey clouds. Would not be a summer day...
Some tourist info
Village of Braskov, close to Kladno
Disc brake roadie with funny mud guard
Then I passed Kladno where I had two options: right to Prague and left to Slany and Rakovnik. I took nr 2 as that would get me 100+ km
I did not see any yellow bike signs here so I had to stay on the bigger roads
This was becoming an atypical ride
Depressing sky. Weather in this country is nowhere near Taiwan
Every ride has its castle viewing point
Eight km left to Slany
King's town of Slany
At this point it somehow got dry
View from within Slany
I took nr 16 in the direction of Melnik, something I haven't done before.
Weather started improving
Still a relatively big road with traffic
Nice picture
Reminds me of the fact I'll turn 30 soon
100 seemed not to be a problem anymore
Very elegant mudguard
It became a good weather day
I took the 240 to Kralupy nad Vltavou
At a certain point I remembered my location from previous rides
Some 26 km left from here
A vivid representation of Fall
Charming as well
My well known area here. I even passed by here when I came from Belgium. That was already five months ago. Time flies...
The Vltava river in the town of Kralupy
22 km from home
Along the river...
A very steep section led to this spot
I passed again through Odolena Voda and Libeznice
District Prague East
Since the big map update I am always guided through these lanes
A small street that leads to Hovorcovice. Dont take it often because it is full of trash and glass.
Still a respectful 110 km today. Next week no social events, just early sleep and a decent ride
