133km, 5h36, 1160 m elevation gain
I didn't do much this weekend, but two things are worth mentioning: On Saturday I explored the Vltava cycling trail which is a refreshing alternative to the city center and on Sunday I went to a lake called Slapy, together with Narmin.
From Cakovice it was first 15 km to the part where I could connect to the river. That area is called Klecany. As you can see, the day was good and view was nice.
Very flat along the Vltava.
I saw a small tent where they were selling bicycle and running clothes. I bought one black pants for cycling. It was on 60% discount
On Saturday, I spent the afternoon with Narmin. On Sunday, we went to this lake called Slapy.
From her place it was only 41 km so I had to go by bike. Unfortunately the first part was through the center. At some point I was faced with this impossible 12% descent.
Allow me to swear, this is fucking dangerous! Good thing I could use the sidewalk on the ride, it at least made the descent somehow possible. It was still steep though!
This ride would be with my flatbar...
It did not take long before I recognized the paths I was sent through. I was also here on longer rides.
The Vltava river on a quiet Sunday afternoon
What followed next was 20 km along the more crowded 101 road. I still remembered it from my January 2 ride. It had a nice ascent at the end.
When I arrived in Slapy, Narmin was already there by bus. She was waiting for me.
Strange place of Slapy, here I am!
What followed next was a very long walk. The lake was 3 km away from here but we did not quite find it.
We bought some refreshments here
The search for the lake did not go very smooth... At some point we found a lake but it was the wrong one. This isolated wilderness however did provide us with a nice scenery for pictures. The day was beautiful
Some snapshots here and there
Yes I like this bike
Yes I like this girl
Now let's continue our little game of lake-hunting
The views were nice but the unsuccessful search for the lake did not make it very enjoyable. And neither did walking so much in bicycle shoes. I was almost ready for amputation.
Another photo shoot
We asked people the road but nobody seemed to know...
So we walked all the way back, again in cycling shoes....
Then I somehow realized the name of the restaurant was in my GPS and we could track it like that.
Yes... we were gonna get there!
We wanted to have some food but the Czechs didnt understand us so they just ignored us...
The lake itself was beautiful, we swam a little. Even though it was very cold and I hated it :-)
Then we bought some food at a Potraviny and walked back to the bus stop
Later, I cycled back to Cakovice, again over the same roads
The sunset not far from my place was lovely
