The change to the daylight savings time had a direct positive and a negative effect on today's ride. The positive one is that I have one full hour more of cycling in daylight, the downside that I lost one hour of sleep during the night. I only had six hours of sleep since I persisted in starting at 7 am.

Early morning view at the icy mountain where my hostel was located
The hardest part was right at the start: how to get off this icy mountain in one piece
I proceeded with care, used the snow for grip and tried to stay balanced.
The view was absolutely stunning though, it was a perfect clash of seasons
After a few hundred meters, the ice was gone, but those crazily dangerous potholes were still there. I made it down in one piece.
This area was remarkably cold, at some point the temperature fell below minus five! My toes were freezing
I tried to be smart and avoid the little road full of potholes from the day earlier, but my gps navigated me right back to it.
Look up the name HABARTICE, that's where this picture is taken. What a majestic scenery is being displayed in front of my camera here! And on this special Sunday morning I am the only spectator
I saw one thing I liked a lot: clear blue skies. It meant the afternoon would be absolutely thriller
Most of the ride was repeating the day before, but with better weather conditions. There were basically three large and lengthy climbs before Pardubice
I saw this view from a side street, it was special enough to catch my attention
It's a beautiful day
Some bystanders offered to have my picture taken, an offer I could not refuse
Bartman wasting another weekend in the Czech hinterland
Gorgeous!
The temperatures were rising fast, all of the sudden it was plus eight and my five layers of textile were turning into a homicidal instrument. I took off two jackets and put them in my backpack
The first part of the journey was within the region of Olomouc, the longest part was within the region of Pardubice, a 110km. The last part was Central Czechia and Prague.
I did not encounter many big cities or densely populated traffic sections. It was just these kind of third range little field routes. So cool that my GPS always picks these.
I lost quite some time in the morning with first walking down the mountain and then doing all of my climbing in Olomouc. In order to recuperate some of that time, I cycled with momentum in the afternoon, limiting the amount of pictures taken. After all, I did ride the same section the day before.
A local area map
It was getting warm, I took of more clothing and my drinks were getting finished faster
Waiting for a train in the middle of nowhere. I had the time to look around. Empty fields, crystal blue sky and a summer sun. The switch of seasons seems rather extreme.
Are you familiar with the concept of AOP? It stands for Asian Owned Potraviny. For cyclists on a Sunday, these are critical locations for restocking on foods and drinks. The Vietnamese inhabitants of the Czech Republic offer me services that the Czechs do not. So not a word of bullshit about these AOPs.
Did I say cyclists? I meant everyone, this Potraviny was full of childeren, elder people, young guys who tune there car and have no shit to do except ride there gay-ass vehicle around all day, etc.
The roads started to go different from the day before. With 84 km left, I finally entered the Central Czechia region, district of Kutna Hora.
By now finishing this gigantic 265 km ride before dark did not seem impossible anymore
The afternoon was chill: From Kutna Hora I took the same road I did a few weeks ago, going via Stary Kolin and Kolin. This section is a bit more flat which was perfect after 500 km of pedaling.
38 km from home, I stopped to finish my last sandwiches
Another 533 km to add this weekend.
Arrival time back home was after seven pm. The sun was setting, but it was not dark yet.
Trying to stay focus after more than 300 metric miles this weekend
I arrived home at 19:17, before darkness. In-cre-di-ble numbers this weekend! I can only conclude by saying that next weekend will definitely be less...
