It begins in two weeks from now with a brand new bike

I am getting ready for it and so is my Facebook:

10.000 km intercontinental bike ride starts in two weeks from now. Bring it on! Let the games begin!

過兩個禮拜規劃已久的洲際破萬龐大騎乘要出發了。比賽開始了!
Через пятнадцать дней начинается моё международное велопутешествие на десять тысяч километров. Начинаем!

If you wanna be a crazy jackass that's fine, but at least be crazy with the right equipment. Meet my newest little friend, the Specialized Sequoia touring bike, made out of steel for carrying a good load of stuff. I'll take him on a test ride from Belgium to Bishkek pretty soon

It became even funnier, my neighbor went to the bike shop and already saw the bikes

This one is for Roger Liu

And this is my beauty. Bags and accessories to be added...

June 11, 2017: Baking and burning in between Znojmo, Austria and Brno

181 km, 7h16, 1226hm

Early morning outside very cheap hostel of 300 Czk

I decided not to go to Zlin because the connections were kinda annoying. Instead, I chose to go to Znojmo and then to Brno

The first 10km of the day were identical to yesterday, with a nice climb

I realized in the early morning that it was again a very lovely day. I was enjoying it big time

Garmin sent me over this big route, which serves as a kinda freeway. Traffic was heavy and I didn't like it. When I saw that this section would be 41 km, I stopped to find a solution.

Unlike yesterday, there was not a single cloud in the sky. It was going to be even warmer

A small side street offered me some refuge for a save study round of the map. I decided to bypass Route 38, by linking a few villages. One of them was Caslavice

Migrating away from heavily populated roads

Caslavice. This was apparently not very far from Trebic, a place I know well

So sunny and hilly

On this crappy road I really felt the benefit of riding with fatter tires

I stopped to navigate to the next little town: Jaromir nad Rokytnou

There is a cycling trail that leads the way to Raabs in Austria, number 26

A little after nine, a small break

I saw a very impressive big church here

A shot from closer by

An important road was closed for road works. I felt a little insecure about going through, but I took my chances and I made it. The joys of cycling.

Then I finally came to the end of Vysocina and entered South Moravia. The hilly part made place for a more flat plateau.

The last miles on my way to Znojmo, a city I once visited in March 2016.

I love good weather days, hopefully the whole summer will be like this

I just relaxed and enjoyed the ride, taking some snapshots of lovely views, such as this like for instance.

Approaching Znojmo

I took a break in the city center, but I was stupid to not go sit outside of the sun. I ended up getting burned and feeling very warm.

The town center was a familiar sight

10 percent cobbles slope

After my quick moment of relaxing in Znojmo, I hit the road again. I did not go directly to Brno because that would be to short of a distance. Instead, I navigated to a small border town called Hevlin, crossed the broder and then went to Brno

That area was almost complete flat. With the crops next to the road, it reminded of me of Taiwan's Yunlin region.

The historical border of Moravia, one of Europe's regions.

Austria... I did not go in, I will do that in a few weeks from now.

Now, I headed back to Brno, which was another 70 km, mostly flat, with a few stingers

Doesn't this picture say it all?

The Chinese called me the red haired barbarian, with a red cycling jersey and a Indian red face, I truly became a Red Barbarian haha!

I was very happy to be wearing this helmet. I love the glasses which can be taken on and off in no time

These roads eventually led me back to urbanization, to Brno, the second city of Czechia

I had some nice climbing in the morning, but the afternoon section could also count as a ride in the Netherlands.

Cruising towards the end of a weekend ride, making sure I drink enough.

It once again struck me that I hardly saw other cyclists.

Stunning views

Brno was drawing near. In the back of the picture is a very steep 10% climb

My flatbar stayed true the whole weekend. Thanks for that mate!

I was pleasantly surprised to be sent through a cycling network within the city of Brno. I never had to be in heavy traffic.

Relaxing cycling paths along a tiny little river

Brno city center. Apparently due to works, I could not take the train at Hlavni Nadrazi. I had to go to Dolni Nadrazi. Even though I arrived at 17.10, my train left only at 18.52. So I went for some food and relaxed a little before heading home.

The neglect-able frustrations from the train ride put aside, it was an absolutely lovely weekend with great numbers as well: 371 km, 15h, 3700hm.
