Narmin was gonna join me on the bike ride. Now there is a first. She would drive my MTB because it was easier to master for her. I took my flatbar rather than my killer road bike, so the difference in speed would not be too huge.
We bought a quick breakfast at Testo in Cakovice and then hit the road
We went in the direction of Kostelec nad Labem and the GPS took us through a few crappy lanes
When I saw a bicycle trail indicating Melnik, I thought it would be a great alternative to the main road we were currently at, so we went inside.
Unfortunately it was all off road and Narmin did not feel like it. It would not be great for my flatbar road bike either. So we went back the original way.
The good part of today was that I finally had someone taking my pictures. Great!
Love on a bike
We found some beautiful views right next to the road
This calls for more pictures...
My loyal flatbar bike, another day spent with you
We were arriving in an area with more hills and that slowed us down. Narmin is not used to cycling and then it can be real drag. I remember my first cycling days. I was dead from just one 200 meter climb.
But what is the rush anyway? The weather is good, just take your time and realx. Have some pictures!
And there she is, my shining star from Prague
Time for a few romantic snapshots
It was getting warm and we were getting out of drinks...
Luckily we found this spot where they sold drinks and snacks. We took a break here and filled up our water bottles
A nice day outside together...
Progress was not really good but then again there was not a lot of distance to cover. Narmin was getting tired after many hills. Can't blame her: it was tired and it was her first far ride
Luckily there were also descents
This is a very beautiful area, especially on a day like this
And this is where we had the nervous break down of the ride. I told Narmin that it was only 19 km left. Apparently the bike was not very comfortable for her, especially the saddle and the tube length. We took a break here and relaxed.
Maybe we needed that break and under these trees was the perfect location
Never thought my MTB could be so sexy
My turn!
And then we marched on. We were already very close
Narmin riding my MTB looks nice. Funny how seeing my bike from a different angle is so strange
Struggling in between hills...
What is this scene going on here haha
Narmin seemed reinvigorated and ready to tackle the last hurdles of this ride
Some geographical info: we arrived in the Liberec region, city of Ceska Lipa
And that is where the sound WAUW surged up from deep inside
It was stunning, really loved these horses in the hilly background
A shot my mom would love. Gotta share it with her!
This area was eye-caressing. SO beautiful! It magically created a smile on Narmin's face
Words are superfluous here
Isn't cycling in the Czech hinterland nice?
Probably this should be censured...
Thank you Narmin for this lovely picture
Wide open fields
Less than 10 km to Machovo Jezero, let's go!!!
There was some historical info about the lake and its location. Apparently it was already there in the 13th century
Doksy, the town where the lake lies. We were finally here!
Dosky center
This one is for Bert: Disco Bily Kamen
We arrived at the crappy camping and went outside for a quick swim. We met some funny Czech guys there and had a nice evening. But the camping was a bit too basic haha.
Sunset at a deserted spot of Machovo Jezero
The evening was nice
The next day we had a swim, but man that water was cold! In the afternoon we went back to Cakovice by train. Nice weekend outdoors
