83 km, 4h05, elv. 1074 hm. Trip rating 50%
There were more cyclists of Specialized at the hotel breakfast. When I came outside, the weather was quite promising. It did not look like it was gonna rain. Therefore, I chose to go to Benesov u Prahy and take a train home from there.
The first part of the ride was the same as yesterday evening, exiting Vimperk and going over the 750m hill. That was still a steep one.
It was a lot more chilly than yesterday
On my way back home

A 12% descent, an area where disc breakes come in handy
One last glimpse back to that steep hill from which I just came
The hills of Southern Bohemia
In this area the weather looked fine
I had two sections on this ride where I had to walk, this was one of them. Pretty annoying
Then came a steep ascent through some forests. It was 10-12%
Nice view with fresh air
Love these disc brakes
Slowly advancing, progress was not great today
It seemed most people were staying inside today
I took my time to look around
Then the second pool of misery began: I was on a certain road for 4-5 km when all of the sudden the bridge over the water was gone. There were bulldozers and there was no way to pass. Instead of going back, I took the small road to the left to see if it offered me a nice alternative.
It didn't take long before I was completely out of touch with paved roads. At first I liked the view and I thought I could just walk these few hundred meters
But then I realized it was more than a few hundred meters and walking is very slow
Carrying my road bike as I walked downhill here.
Walking alongside the river I could not cross
Then my GPS indicated one km of walking, that is where I felt this was time-consuming
All frustrations put aside, this was a nice view. It made me think of why I am not riding my MTB more here... Maybe I would if there were more cyclists willing to join.
Not gonna actually cycle here, don't wanna get a puncture
After long walking, I began finding normal trails again and I was on my way to the exit of this maze
I made it outside and my GPS calculated an alternative. Somehow I was able to cycle on the other bank of the river. Problem solved!
However, the next problem came quickly: the skies were turning darker and darker
It didn't take long before it began raining
I stopped here and checked my map to see which train station was the closest. It was Pisek! Even though it meant going back 13 km.
I sat there and ate my cookies. I even slept for a very short while
Then I decided to finally hit the road and yes I got wet
It was the first time I experienced my disc brakes in wet conditions and they were A LOT better than rim brakes. That was such a pleasant discovery
Wet shoes and socks: inevitable in rain
I had some trouble finding the Pisek railway station, but I managed to catch the 15:56 train, which cost me only 249 czK.

From there I went back home, to Prague. Not the mileage I use to have but I still had more than 300 km this weekend.
