August 30, 2016: RBX:PRG ride 2 Hoe vlot het naar Vlotho?

Garmin Activity: https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/1354986641
185 km, 7h38, elevation 875m. Trip rating 90%

I slept well and recovered nicely from the first day.  I enjoyed a good breakfast, stashed up on supplies and hit the road for part two

Western Germany in the early morning

Leaving Vreden behind me and commencing my monster mission through Germany

The low sun was blocking my vision for the first hour of the ride, then it got better

Early in the ride I learned that the weather would be great: clear blue skies and sunshine

Actually quite similar to my May ride from Belgium to Prague

In the mood for cycling

Time was on my hands and I was taking it very slowly. I stopped here for eating an apple

One of the great things of cycling: you can pass by 90% of the road works,. Here was a blocked route but I could go through. As a result, the following section was very calm

Absolutely no traffic here

Bright sun and clear blue skies, a great day to be outside

District of Coesfeld

I stopped here for a movie clip

My GPS was leading me to Munster, a name I remember from history classes

The section through the city center was very annoying: heavy traffic and many stop signs

A bridge in the middle of the city

More road works

Luckily I managed to find once again the outsides. The weather was perfect

Tourism before cycling, as I had more than enough time

Enjoying this moment

It was warm but not as smoking hot as one week earlier, thank god

My oh My, I have arrived in fairy tale land!

It was a crusade from one tiny village to another and in between were these mighty open spaces. It made me understand where the brothers Grimm got their inspiration

Once more for the horror vacui

Long busy road segment with isolated bike path. Compared to my previous ride, I saw a lot more of these isolated bike paths.

German architecture

Castle

Time always flies during these rides, the day is divided into segments with goals for every hour. And as you reach those results, time passes by on you.. It was already afternoon again

Another spot with construction works along a heavy traffic road. Luckily there were still isolated places

Most of the ride had been flat, only in the end were there some hills

At the top of one of those stingers, preparing for rim brake descent

Almost there, 30 km left. I ate the sandwiches I had prepared at home yesterday

All of this was very safe, no real conflict points with heavy traffic

Views from my afternoon

My cool bike

Road instructions, I did not know most of these places, but I had a GPS and a map with me. Couldn't go wrong

This spot was 20 km away from the destination, estimated arrival time was around seven

Before this steep climb it was only 13 km left

Yes, it was a nice steep and longer hill

Vlotho already indicated on the signs

Vlotho 12 km

One km left...

I was here, 185 km in the pocket, 420 km in two days. Good progress

I had two days without being able to pump up the tire. I would be in need of a bike shop tomorrow

My place for the night. The staff was really friendly

I had a good meal here, shared my pics and hit the sack pretty early. One third of the mission was already completed
