It had been sooo long since I had embarked on a genuine two day all weekend cycling trip. But this time it would finally happen. My mission? Cycling to the southern border with Austria and then go further into Austria the next day
The first 65 km of this ride were the same from my flatbar sunday afternoon ride a few weeks ago, going to Benesov.
I passed through Mnichovice again and had to take the deviation
Already quite a few times here
District of Benesov
The weather appeared to be good
Yes, I was facing this two day ride without a back pack. Call me crazy!
These hills and sceneries are very striking. I like them a lot
A village called Strizkov, just like the one in Prague
Nice uphill parts
I stopped at a Potraviny for bananas and bread
I was now in between Benesov and Tabor, going gradually south on the map
What a magnificent day
120 km from home and I found myself in South Bohemia, district of Tabor
So far so good
Some grey elements here
These hills and valleys are my perpetual first impression of Czech republic
My GPS was sending me through newer sections of road where I had not yet been
I stopped here for a video report to remember Mr Cai
Another random small town
I stopped here for a second Potraviny visit
I took a 15 minutes power nap here
Some local event was going on...
It started to become interesting after 160 km on the road, as I entered the area of Jindrichuv Kralec
Never was I here before
I had a lot of climbs in the first 170 km of the ride, but all of the sudden there was a 40 km stretch that was relatively flat
Speed was around 30 kmph and progress was going good
Thanks to this section my average speed was 25+
Some clouds in the later part of the afternoon
Many miles of field roads led me to this Czech fairy village
Impressive buildings, very different style
The rest of the ride continued to be flat and therefore my progress all of the sudden was good
Cows
I was only 20 km away from the village
The name Ceske Velenice even appeared on the signs here
It was hard to believe that I was already nearing the southern border of Czechia
Less than 5 km left and I saw names with the A of Austria
Ceske Velenice
Ceske Velenice, I was here!
Now I wanted to cross the border and go to Austria, just for the heck of it
Here we are, the end of the Czech republic, into Austria
Republik Osterreich
Even Vienna was already indicated on the signs.
I went to my hotel, had Chinese food, posted a status on FB and hit the sack. This ride was very nice!
