245 km, elevation 3300, 10h40. Trip rating 80%
第一天的報告,西出布拉格,到捷克最西端的城市 As。一整天多雲,最後五十公里還下雨下雪。至少245公里被我搞定了!歡迎在此頁看看所有相片!
Off I went! The trip I had been planning for almost two months would finally commence. I took several preparations for this monstrous ride: I had my bike serviced, new Dura Ace brakes installed, hotels booked, route planned, backpack neatly prepared etc. Luckily my backpack was not too heavy

I got up at three am and hit the road at 04:25.
The first day of this ride would lead me to the westernmost tip of Czechia, a ride I had already done in early February; when I visited Cheb.
Blurry picture in the early morning, somewhere in Prague.
The first part took me through some familiar roads in the direction of Kladno.
The sunrise was beautiful and I saw several beds of yellow flowers, which gave me a good mood.
Good morning, reporting 42 km outside of Prague!
The feeling of Spring and undertaking a long journey befell upon me
These yellow flowers would keep me company almost all the way to Belgium. They also invited me to take a movie clip.
Some roads were similar, others were different, but the main picture was me heading west on the map.
After 60 km, I entered a new region within Czechia. I felt that progress was already quite good.
The weather forecast had not been too great. A thick layer of clouds was already forming in the skies. But for now, I was still good.
Some snapshots while riding that point out it was not very warm
I was pretty happy with the fact that progress was great! Early in the morning I already collected 100 km.
Bartman riding home, all the way home!
Elevation started to increase as there were several hills. They were kept company by beautiful beds of yellow flowers/
At times, the sun would even come out from behind the clouds
Momentum and morale were very high at this early stage of my cycling journey.
Amazingly beautiful snapshots. I had to stop for one every now and then
Traveling through the Ustecky region
There were no big cities here; only small towns
Barking dogs
Foggy skies
Entering Chomutov meant I was advancing swiftly
All of these were roads I had traveled on my ride to Cheb two and a half months ago
This is the area of Kazan. There is a long section with climbs and descents here, not too much traffic, many cyclists. A nice area!
I stopped here for a snack and a video report
Riding through the small hilly road
The sun came out here and this segment was wonderful. I made two long reports here using my bike cam.
This is where I got in contact with the soul of these lands
Elevation was accumulating nicely here.
Marvelous views!
Taking some time to enjoy this fresh air
Adorable little Czech village with traditional homes
This bike was in for service and maintenance. I could feel it rode more swiftly and snappy
Entering the Karlovy Vary region; Karlsbad in German. Already 170km accomplished and the German border was coming closer.
Thick clouds once again appeared at the horizon
Cows in a fairy tale-like setting. Even I could rage here all day long
This is at the top of a very steep climb. I recorded while I climbed. I was sweating a lot here. As I marched on, I noticed it started raining.
Sokolov, next area on the map. I was nearing the 200 km mark.
Castle up the hills
It started raining, not hard, but constantly. I was sent over some bike trails
Onto the cycling trail, which was wet
It was not that far anymore. However, I was still happy of buying that mud guard.
It already paid off on the very first day
Then it began raining harder. I hid out under this little shack
As it kept raining, I just waited here. I laid down a little and guess what, I had a little nap. I slept around 30 minutes and I stayed here for one hour. Then I got properly dressed and hit the road again. It was 45 km from here.
The rain did not stop at all. I did see this nice place name, containing my name
After Habartice now also Habartov
I already came to terms with the reality of the never-ending downpour. I just tried to finish the ride as soon as possible. In the back of my mind I was also worried about the next cycling days.
Wet Western Czechia
This drizzling rain just did not stop
25 km left from my hotel, approximately one hour
The weather got worse near the end, and on top of that, I was sent through some very crappy roads
It even started snowing and my fingers were super cold, nearly frozen even
Fiinally, I made it to As
A first bite of the ride had been completed with these 245 km.
I had a good dinner, warm shower and relaxed for the remainder of the evening.
