June 3, 2017: Slapy once again, under a hundred degrees Fahrenheit

113km, 5h, 1100hm

I just came back to Prague and in the morning I found myself cleaning up my room. I did not want to let the day be a total waste, so I decided to join Narmin and her friends in Slapy. Target for the day: 100 km.

I did not want to go through the Prague city center, so I navigated first to Tynec Nad Sazavou. My patience was tested with some very crappy cycling roads. Actually Prague has a horrible infrastructure

See this hat? It was a birthday present from one of Narmin's friends, so I decided to wear it. It would protect my precious head from baking in the sun

25 km and out of Prague. Many familiar roads here...

Early in the ride, the temperature was already close to 30 degrees Celsius. Exceptionally warm for this country.

The Specialized bike shop I never visited

After my marathon ride on my race bike, I could feel this bike was heavier. I equipped it with that 35mm tire.

Warm...

Empty fields on this remarkable first Saturday of June

I was already regularly sipping water

Views were very nice to watch. I could not capture this on my camera

Large part of this itinerary was similar to a trip I did some six weeks ago.

Praha Zapad

That brief moment in the shadows was quite relaxing

View over the hill with bike against pack of hey

These 35mm tire are beefy! Gave me some cushion for the crappy Czech roads

Nearing the town of Petrov. There is a long descent here.

-16%, a joy on a disc brake bike

After that long descent, we reached the Vltava river

From here, it was just over ten kilometers to Slapy

The 200 meters vertical climb to Slapy, going from 200 to 400 meters elevation

On top of that climb, there was a small side road which led to this field.

Its striking view led me there in the first place. 409 meters high

Today is a genuine summer day

I was hoping there was a direct connection to Slapy but there was not...

Slapy to the left

Here we are! Now find the lake!

I could not not think of last year's ride here, where Narmin and I spent two hours looking for the actual lake.

Within Slapy there were also some hills

At this spot we relaxed. We also went on one of those boats and went into the lake for a dip. That was fun.

Around six pm, I changed into my cycling gear again and headed back home

A lovely ride on my flatbar was deploying in front of me

Prague 33 km. It went over that 102 again.

I decided to go over this cyclist's bridge in Davle

My logic was that I would also get to Prague on the other bank of the Vltava.

But that was wrong. The further I went along these roads, the more offroad it became. I asked some people and they said that road did not go anywhere. So, I headed back...

Evening panorama from the right bank of the Vltava

I still turned this into a nice ride

Within Prague, I accidentally navigated to the wrong street, which added 10 kilometers to my trip.

I made it home before dark though

I cycled along the A2 cycling path, which I had never done before

Many tourists enjoying this lovely day
