128 km, 5h15, elevation 1417 m. Trip rating 80%
It would be raining this weekend and moreover, my road bike was in the shop for maintenance. I spent Saturday with Narmin, who was going to Russia so no trip there. On Sunday however, I hit the road. In the early morning I was still taking care of stuff, so I only hit the road as late as one pm. That might even have been my latest departure time ever
The GPS calculated a 130 km spin south of Prague, around Benesov. A nice distance for my flatbar
The weather was just fabulous, it was warm and I was riding in shorts
The road led to Ricany, south of Prague
I only came to this section once before
Open fields on a lovely sunny afternoon
Today I only took my phone with me so no high class footage
This ride was actually well divided into two 65 km parts, I was totally relaxed
There was a bit of a wind, but nothing strong
As soon as Prague was behind me, beautiful calm fields opened up to me
I passed through the town of Miskovice, an 850 year old city. There is a very steep hill here which is directly followed by a 17% descent. Good thing I have disc brakes
Right after that descent there is an off road trail my GPS keeps sending me through. When I came here before with my road bike, I declined I searched for another route. Today I felt I could try it out
It was just doable with this bike, but comfortable nope. If it would be a wet day it would be off of the lsit
Good part is this part was not particularly steep. I proceeded with caution
Total length about 1.8 km
At some point there was a road block with a no way through sign. I tried my luck and was relieved to see I could pass by bike
More than 40 km completed, Benesov already visible
There was an asshole Czech driver who did not give me right of way
It was still 20 km to the half way point here, the momentum of beautiful open summer fields continued
A beautiful Sunday indeed
Considering the short ride I was doing, elevation gain was fair. At this point already 740 meters
Entering the district region of Benesov
I turned back for this sign because it was really nice: it indicated the cycling distance to a few major European cities.
From these signs I noticed I was really in the center of the continent
Some locations were worthy of a snapshot, although the real life view was a lot better
En mor on em!
Leaving so late put my entire ride into a different perspective, that was a nice experience
Some nice pics with the sun in my back
This Sirrus is still a king of bikes, this bike is truly irreplaceable to me
Other view
Second longer part of gravel road I was sent through. These sections justify riding with 28mm tires over the entire line, road bike included.
That is a nice view over the hills
It was so relaxing to see how low traffic was. These roads were once again all mine
65 km in the pocket, here I am, downtown Benesov. Now there would be 65 left still
The next town I passed through was the ever-cute Tynec nad Sazavuo, one of those never to forget places in Czechia
Soon I realized where I was, I came from the other direction into the town center and from there on I went back in the direction of Prague, riding through that forest section called Cakovice
Jungeroffova street, some 40 km away from Prague
The last part was identical to previous rides, so I did not take too many pictures. I enjoyed to ride.
I came back home a little after seven, actually I had only been outside for six hours while I was pedaling for more than five. This little ride saved my weekend and I am happy with it!
